MIDWEST DEFENSE FORUM

About the Forum

Vision

Protect America from rising global threats by accelerating the Wisconsin and Midwest tech-enabled defense industry.  Also, preserve democracy at home by promoting the ideals of Western civilization and the principles of free society.

Former US Senator and University of Florida president Ben Sasse said that “The Midwest Defense Forum’s focus on Western Civilization offers an answer to one of the most profound questions in American society—what are our warfighters defending?  By deepening our collective understanding of the democratic ideals that enable our nation to prosper and to continue to be a force for good in the world, our all-volunteer military will remain inspired by their noble cause and all other citizens will be inspired to find better ways for their own contribution to the greater good.”

Mission

Led by former US Rep. Mike Gallagher, the Midwest Defense Forum will pursue a tripartite agenda: to heighten the use of technology to help American gain competitive advantage on the battlefield; to strengthen the upper Midwest economy by growing the defense tech sector; and by educating citizens on the principles of Western Civilization and the free societies that it fosters.

Organizational Structure

The Midwest Defense Forum (MDF) is operated by a LLC headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin co-managed by John Gard and Jay Hein.

The MDF’s nonprofit activities—research, policy development, events—will be operated by the Sagamore Institute.
